Achieve massive speed reductions in tiny mechanical footprints. In a compound gear set, two gears of different sizes are fixed together on a common rotating shaft. GearDXF makes configuring, simulating, and exporting compound multi-stage gear reductions simple and visual.
A compound gear consists of two gears of different tooth counts locked to the same shaft or rotation axis, rotating at the exact same RPM and transmitting torque between parallel stages.
Multiply the ratios of each individual meshing stage: Total Ratio = (Teeth_driven1 / Teeth_driver1) × (Teeth_driven2 / Teeth_driver2).
You can 3D print both gears as a single stepped solid body, or machine two separate gears and pin, key, or press-fit them together onto a common shaft.
